Robotti & Company: A Summary of Our Business Continuity Plan
1. Introduction
While Robotti & Company strives to provide uninterrupted service to our
customers, certain events outside of our control could impact our ability to conduct
business. Such events could be weather-related or man made, and could impact a wide
geographic area or Robotti’s facilities alone.
Robotti & Company has a comprehensive business continuity plan in place to
facilitate our ability to operate and serve our customers if such a business disruption were
to occur. Since your planning may include how we will respond to such situations, we
are providing you with an overview of our Business Continuity Plan.
2. Overview of Our Business Continuity Plan
A. Events impacting the Robotti & Company Office
In the event our office is subject to a disruption, for example, a building fire, all
employees would meet at the apartment of Robert Robotti.
In the event of the office subject to a disruption, all employees would be able to
work from their homes using the online resources available through the company’s
website.
B. Events impacting New York City
In the event all of New York City is subject to disruption, employees would go to
their homes. While we expect to be able to resume business at the start of the next
business day, it is likely we would do so with reduced staff given the transportation
difficulties that would arise as a result of such an event. All employees would also be
able to work from their homes using the resources available through the company’s
website.
C. Events Impacting the East Coast Region
In the event a disruption affects major portions of the East Coast, Robotti &
Company would most likely cease operations. We believe it likely that securities
markets would be similarly closed.
D. Events Affecting the NYSE and NASD
Robotti & Company will not open unless the US Equity Markets are open. Both
the NASD and the NYSE have contingency plans in place to allow for trading in the
event of the disruption to the markets, including the possibility of trading each
other’s products in the event one market cannot open. Given the proximity of our
office to the NYSE, it is reasonably likely that any disruption not limited to our main
offices would affect the NYSE as well.
